Joshua Gold is a Principal at TMV, investing across the full technology stack in maritime, shipbuilding, ports, and intermodal logistics. He focuses on backing companies that are modernizing core infrastructure and operations, with a particular interest in commercializing technologies originating in the defense sector for application in commercial shipping and offshore industries. He is passionate about connecting early-stage founders with industry stakeholders to accelerate adoption and scale.
Prior to joining TMV, Joshua spent 6 years in shipbroking in London across Vortex Shipbroking and Simpson Spence Young, working in both time-charter and spot markets within the tanker sector. His experience included structuring and negotiating contracts between shipowners, oil majors, and trading houses, while building relationships across key shipping hubs.
Joshua holds a Bachelor’s in Law and a Master’s with Distinction in International Shipping Law from Queen Mary University of London. He has also been published in the Journal of International Maritime Law on the US Jones Act.
Outside of work, Joshua spends his time in the gym, watching football (Aston Villa firmly his second love), and is in the early stages of adopting baseball as his American sport, while rotating between sushi and Chipotle.
